6 modi per utilizzare l’olio di mandorle dolci

6 ways to use sweet almond oil

Sweet almond oil is a multipurpose oil.

It is extracted from cold-pressed almond seeds (Prunus dulcis). Thanks to its nourishing and regenerating action, it is a true blessing for dry, cold sensitive and/or crack-prone skin.

Here you can find a few tips on how to use sweet almond oil and take advantage of its countless beneficial properties.

1. Body moisturizer

Sweet almond oil is a powerful moisturizer. Studies have shown that linoleic acid contributes to significantly reduce transepidermal water loss, boosting skin’s ability to retain water. Thanks to this oil’s moisturizing action, skin will look healthy and glowing.

For deeper hydration and nourishment, apply sweet almond oil after showering to damp skin in a circular upward motion.

2. Antioxidant and anti-aging effect

Sweet almond oil can also be used to add beneficial properties to your daily cream. Indeed, this precious oil is highly rich in Vitamin E and B which fight free radicals and counteract the effects of skin aging. To get a nourishing and anti aging effect add a few drops to your favourite cream (try to keep a 1:10 proportion). Skin will get smoother and more resistant to oxidative stress.

3. A relief to stressed and irritated skin

Thanks to its regenerating and anti-inflammatory properties, sweet almond oil was used by Chinese medicine to treat skin’s diseases such as psoriasis and eczema.

If your skin appears locally irritated or red, apply this precious oil using a gentle circular massage until it is completely absorbed to benefit from its healing properties.

The Beta-sitosterol component promotes the synthesis of collagen and elastin, and will contribute to your skin’s regeneration.

4. An aid to lessen scars and prevent stretch marks

Sweet almond oil helps tissues regain elasticity, lessening scars and preventing stretch marks and skin cracks.

In order to enhance skin’s tone and elasticity, after using a delicate body scrub, apply sweet almond oil to the areas which are more likely to develop stretch marks (hips, glutes, stomach, breasts).

5. A solution for dry and fragile hair

Sweet almond oil is also a good remedy for dry and fragile hair. If you want to strengthen brittle and dry hair, try out this easy and quick pack before shampooing.

Wet your hair and gently dab it with a towel. Apply the oil to middle length and ends of the hair and leave on for 30 minutes.

We recommend using the oil on wet hair. Water creates a barrier that keeps the oil on the surface and prevents fatty acids from exerting a solvent action on the sebaceous component of the hair fibers, worsening hair dryness and/or weakness.

6. A trick for the perfect mani-pedi

You can benefit from the soothing and repairing action of sweet almond to get a perfect mani-pedi.
Before starting your manicure pour a drop of oil all around the nail and use a circular massage to soften the cuticles. You can also soak your fingertips into a small bowl of oil for a few minutes. Add a few drops of lemon for an anti-yellow effect.

Sweet almond oil can also be used to heal cracked hands and heels. Blend it with a few drops of tea tree oil to get a powerful anti-mycotic treatment.
